Contactless level measurement for tanks, rainwater tanks, and containers

The Senvolon Level Sensor LD measures liquids and solids contactlessly and centimeter-accurate via LiDAR, up to 12 m deep. MIN/MAX monitoring is built in, and the housing is IP65-protected, making it suitable for outdoor use as well. It can be integrated into Home Assistant or ioBroker via MQTT . Evaluation runs locally with no cloud required; optional cloud services hosted in Germany are available, for example for push notifications on the go.

Installation and integration

Smart Home Integration

Easy integration into common smart home solutions such as Home Assistant, OpenHAB, ioBroker or Node-RED via MQTT. Also supports MQTT Discovery for Home Assistant.

Web browser/HTTP API

Direct access and configuration via web browser. Additionally: retrieval of readings in JSON format via HTTP is possible.

Optional Remote Access

Cloud service enables worldwide access to real-time data over the internet. Web app for iOS and Android is available, activation of push notifications possible.

Switching Signal Output

Features an internal switching signal output for automatic control of pumps, alarms or notifications (controlled by MIN/MAX monitoring).

Flexible Installation

The LD level sensor can be mounted on or in the tank opening; a clear line of sight to the surface is required. Reliable initial setup requires sufficient Wi-Fi coverage. By default, the connection runs through the integrated Wi-Fi antenna. The LD level sensor is also available with an external antenna connector and external Wi-Fi antenna, allowing the antenna to be positioned flexibly: ideal for ensuring stable Wi-Fi connections even under difficult reception conditions.

Which level sensor variant (LiDAR or RADAR) is best suited for my use case?

We offer the level sensor based on two contactless technologies. The choice depends on the precision required and the ambient conditions:

LiDAR (light)

  • Maximum range: 12 meters
  • Optimized for: liquids and solids such as pellets
  • Special features: none

RADAR (microwave)

  • Accuracy: millimeter-accurate
